Squad Guidelines

General Outline:

  • 7 squads based on 50m FR time.

  • Based on best approximation of the slowest swimmer’s time in each of the squads.

  • All swimmers in any squad must be able to swim 50m without assistance as per Dubbo Regional Council Agreement

  • Attendance is a factor – if only attending once per week, it is possible that a swimmer will be left in a lower squad.

  • Form stroke ability is taken into consideration – please see below.

  • Whether there is space in the squad above or below is also a key consideration. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SWIMMERS MAY MOVE SQUADS AT VARIOUS POINTS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.

  • Ability to listen, general behaviour, potential to participate actively and general readiness for the respective squad will be considered, i.e. some swimmers may be ready to move on their freestyle time, but cannot commit to extra sessions, or would fall far behind in training due to lack of strength in their form strokes.

  • COACH DISCRETION will be communicated to parents and swimmers and exercised throughout the season. Each case for movement will be considered on an individual basis with the coach decision being final.
