What are Club Nights?

Club Nights are held throughout the season on Friday nights at the Dubbo Aquatic and Leisure Centre. The first race on Club Nights will start at 5:30pm. Swimmers complete against the clock and attempt to better their previous time.

Each swimmer can compete in up to three (3) events at each Club Night. Events are repeated throughout the season to enable swimmers to improve on their times.

Club Nights are run under carnival conditions with Swimming NSW qualified officials and electronic timing equipment. This allows swimmers to register official Swimming NSW times.

In addition, we also hold ‘Taster’ races for young siblings. These are held over 15m and are not timed. They are simply an opportunity for younger swimmers to ‘have a go’.

Club Night Guidelines

The following guidelines will apply to Club Nights:

  • Club Night nominations closes 5pm Thursday prior to Club Night;

  • Entries are online only - login to your SwimCentral account and find Dubbo City Swimtech Club Nights.

  • Swimmers can compete in up to three (3) events at each night;

  • Swimmers are required to wait in the marshalling area for their event. Marshalls will not chase swimmers who fail to arrive for their race;

  • All races (except Tasters) will be run with electronic timing equipment under ‘Carnival’ conditions;

  • At the end of each heat swimmers are to remain in their lanes until instructed to exit by the Referee;

  • Swimmers must exit via the sides of the pool and not at the ends. Swimmers must also swim under the lane ropes (not slide over them).

Parent Support

As you are aware, the running of carnivals, club nights and other club events takes a lot of organisation. Your support and assistance in the running of these events is greatly appreciated.

If you can help out on club nights by timekeeping, marshalling the children or recording times, please come forward and volunteer your services. ‘Many hands make light work’ – we’ve all hear it (and said it) before but how true this statement is.

Please remember that the swimmers only compete against themselves on Club Nights. They are here to enjoy themselves, their sport and hopefully improve their swimming. Support them in the swimming endeavours by encouraging them and becoming involved in the club.
